Antiracist Books for Kids and Adults

We believe in the power of books to open minds, spark conversation, and inspire change.

The Young Reader’s Collection

Guided by the research of Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop and inspired by the powerful testimony of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, among others, our curated list of antiracist books are housed in every Little Free Antiracist Library. We know how important it is for children and adults to have access to books that provide mirrors to their own lives and windows into others’ lived experiences in order to inform and move readers to take action against racism. Our carefully chosen selections span multiple reading levels and provide sources of powerful inspiration, vital historical context, and important lessons for readers of all ages.

The Community Collection

Recognizing that antiracism work is an ongoing, purposeful process rooted in lifelong learning, we ensure that our Little Free Antiracist Libraries are regularly updated and contain books that center unique and diverse perspectives of Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQIA+, and other historically marginalized perspectives. By circulating these books in the communities we serve, they support antiracist learning, spark conversation and inspire action against racism.
